It's been a while

It has been a while since I posted something here, but there has been several reasons for that. I've been really busy lately with both my school, volenteering plus a lot of us from the project went to Puno this weekend.
In Puno they have this huge celebration of the virgen saint. it is one of Peru's biggest celebrations with a lot of people dancing in beautiful costumes in the streets. It is weird though because Puno is a little, ugle and terrible city and not very well located.
Anyways. We left Cusco last Thursday to go by bus to Puno. It is a 6-7 hour busride, but that is not so bad around here. We were really unlucky though, because a lot of people had decided to demonstrate and blocade the roads that day. So we spent a lot of time waiting and not moving because of that. At some point though, the guys from our bus went out and removed the rocks that the demonstrants had placed on the road.

Several times we stopped and some got of the bus, and others went to the bathroom. But it is crazy, the people here will do everything to sell you everything from food to crap you don't need. Therefore it is not unusual to see ladies like in the foto below standing trying to sell stuff through the fence.

As i said Puno is an absolutely ugly city. All the houses are half-finished and all grey. Depressing. Just one place i saw a house with some colour, it was really cool though:

One day we went to this huge slide, and spent a lot of time there being kids, that was awesome !

This week has been really hard. I've been working at the Yanapay schools and taking classes at my language school, and I've felt like I've been behind all the time. Therefore I've decided not to work as a volenteer next week. That way i'll be able to catch up on all the stuff I need to do, and at the same time I can try and plan what to do when I'm done here in Cusco.

Lydia and a lot of the others that I've been hanging out with lately have been at Machu Picchu this week, so it has been really quiet arund here. I've been walking around and spending time with a canadian woman called Sonya though. And today we went to this really good vegetarian restaurant for dinner.
