Enjoying life at the Titicaca lake

The boarder between Peru and Bolivia is the amazing Titicaca lake. On the peruvian side, Puno, we just slept one night to rest after a long bus trip from Cusco, and then we crossed the boarder to Copacabana, Bolivia. It is an amazingly beautiful place. Because of the altitude it can be quite hard to breathe, but the scenary is fantastic.

Lots of broken glass at Boca del Sapo, strange but kind of beautiful

The church in Copacabana

The boats that take you to Isla del Sol

We took one fo the boats from Copacabana to Isla del Sol, the southern part. I was here on my first trip almost 5 years ago, and it was a little strange to be back. Many things had changed, way more touristic now than back then.

Arriving at the southern part, Gustavo did not have a backpack to bring, so he brought this box

View from the south

This is how everyone carries stuff around traditionally in Bolivia. To me it does not look very comfortable.

Gustavo doing his english homework. we bought (without knowing) this terrible toiletpaper, but at least we laughed a lot about it. haha

After one night we crossed the island from south to north. It was quite hard because of the altitude plus we were both with a cold. But we reached the goal anyways :D

Gustavo and his box crossing the island

It is quite exhausting to walk here, plus the box did not help much

The beautiful place was what we reached arriving to the north

This pig was hilarious, it was rubbing the whole body on this pole, like Baloo in the jungle book.

All the kids were enjoying the wind playing with kites

Cute baby pigs living the good life

Crazy taking a swim in this ice cold water!

Enjoying the view of the lake

After a couple of days in the peace if the island it was time to leave and we left for La Paz.

Inca ruins in Huancacalle

We decided not to go to Macchu Picchu, instead we went to a small village called Huancacalle and it turned out to be a great decision. We walked for a short while and came to these beautful inca ruins and the best of all was - there was nobody else there. Take a look :D

a quick break

first signs of ruins

These were the only people we met all day, and they were cleaning the ruins from grass
