The Last Couple of Weeks Here In Colombia

Lots have been going on the last couple of weeks.

The night before the grandmother´s birthday we found the old photoalbums and started looking at photoes, it was great fun:

and old portrait of the grandmother.

The 7th of August it was the grandmother´s birthday and also a national day, so we put up the flag and went to the mall to get some ice cream and celebrate her:

A lot of family came to Pitalito to celebrate her during the weekend. As the tradition is around here we had birthdaycake, a really great one actually. Gustavo´s mother and his aunts wanted to take the grandmother out to have a drink and listen to music. So we went to a bar where they played musica de cuerda. Two guys playing acustic guitar and singing. I am ot sure if it is just my kind of music, but it was great to see the grandmother that happy, smiling and singing.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you..."

Counting how old she is, 10 years old.

Marisol put cake all over the grandmother´s face

Grandmother and her children

Grandmother and her grandchildren.

It was tough with all that celebrating, so some needed a siesta. A lot of funny sleepig positions:

After the birthday we went to Popayán to visit Diana:

Diana´s sister Isabella

Gustavo and I had some really delicious food at the marked

Last Sunday I had to leave Popayán and go to Bogotá because Monday morning farmers, truckdrivers and other workers were gonna start a national strike, which in Colombia means that they block the roads and nobody gets to pass, not even ambulances. So I didn´t want to risk getting trapped in some part of the country and ot being able to catch my flight back home.
So I have been here in Bogotá for a little more than a week. Visiting Marcela´s family, Gustavo´s sister and his aunt as well.

Marcela´s brother Cristian and his wife Nana

Talking with Marcela on skype, since she is in the US.

Zóe and Jhon Jairo.

Gustavo´s sister, Paola, and I.

Now I have just 2 more days left to enjoy Colombia and then I am back to Denmark and life as a university student.

El estrecho del río Magdalena

We went to San Agustín this weekend to get out from Pitalito and enjoy a little bit some place else. Supposedly there was gonna be some concert with andine music there, so it was a great oppotunity to go there. We never went to the concert though, but Sunday we went to el estrecho del río Magdalena. The river Magdalena is a huge river here in Colombia crossing big parts of the country, and el estrecho is a place 10 km from San Agustin where the river gets really narrow so the presure is huge from the big amount of water passing. It was really beautiful there and we ended up spending most of the day there just enjoying the beautiful day and the beautiful place.
