A week ago we crossed the boarder to Ecuador. The first impression was not too good. People here were not very friendly, apparently a lot around here have something against the Colombians. So we have had problems finding hostels and so because they don't want Colombians, really racistic and this is the first time I have experienced this in South America.
We went to the coast, Esmeraldas. But here the people had an attitude even worse, and we didn't feel safe or good there at all, so after one day we took the bus a little further south to a little city called Atacames and it seemed like a great place to celebrate my 20th birthday. It turned out to be a mixed expirience though. The first night someone (we think it was the hotelowner, but we don't have any proof) stole my cellphone and my camera. Really unlucky because I had a lot of photos only on the camera, and they are lost now. For this reason we spent a whole day talking to the police and trying to find some kind of solution to this problem, but the hotelowner as basically an asshole, so it all ended out in nothing.
My birthday was great though. Gustavo made me a delicious lunch with seafood (gotta enjoy being at the coast ;) ) and spent the day on the beach. I have never tried that before, since in Denmark it not really what you feel like doing in the end of November ;)
Now we are in Quito, I bought a new camera so hopefully there will be lots of great photos in the future. The city is really beautiful, but it is freaking cold here, so I think we will move in towards Colombia one of the upcoming days. Especially because we want to celebrate Christmas in Colombia and transportation gets really expensive in December apparently.
Anyways, I'm still enjoying life around here :D

Like a spring day in Denmark
After 16 hours in 3 different buses including sitting on the floor a couple of hours because of lack of seats we arrived in Ipiales. It is the boarder city between Colombia and Ecuador. It is freaking cold here in the afternoon and evening, and since we arrived yesterday in the afternoon I was not too optimistic about this place. The best thing though is that the hotel has hot water. WOOOOW, I never really enjoyed a shower as much as yesterday.
This morning though it was like waking up, looking out off the window in Denmark and realizing that the first day in spring just arrived. Wow, it was amazing. And it just made my day when the garbage van passed by, and they played really loud and really happy music.. that just mademe laugh a lot, and Gustavo told me that this is normal here. I just have one thing to say - LOKUMBIA, but i love it!

relaxing life in Colombia
What have I been doing these last couple of days? Well actually just enjoying being free to do exactly what I want. Gustavo and I have been in Pitalito for quite some time visiting his grandma. A couple of days in San Agustin where I for the first time in my life saw a snake (that was not in a zoo), we tried to find a waterfall which if we had been thinking a little was a bad idea cause last time we did that here in San Agustin it failed too. And of course, it failed. It started raining like hell and we never reached the waterfall.
It is raining a lot today here, so there is not a lot to do. We are anyways taking off to ecuador because my visa expires in a week and a half. It is gonna be interesting to see how different Ecuador is from Colombia, and there I will hopefully meet Sarah as well, I am crossing my fingers :D
