Visit from La Plata

Another long weekend here in Colombia, and Gustavo's sister, Johana, and her boyfriend and daugther came to visit us. We had a nice, relaxing time, eating great food and enjoying the company. It was nice with a visit and it seems like Thaliana really enjoyed to be here with her uncle and expiriencing new things:

Going out in the cold to get something to eat.

Best pizzas in town at the viking pizza place "Olafo" (don't ask me what vikings have to do with pizzas)

Only 3 days left before easter holiday, I'm looking very much forward to that since we are going to Cartagena in the Carribbean and meeting up with Marcela there as well. It has been raining a lot here in Popayán so it will be extra nice with some sun and beach in the Carribbean.

Enjoying a long weekend

It has been a nice and long weekend since my class on Monday was cancelled. We had thought of going somewhere for the whole weekend, but we ended up sleeping until late on Saturday and having great food with a friend of Gustavo's. In the evening there was a party at the university dorms and we danced until 7 in the morning. Great music, great dancing and it was outside, something that we rarely can do in Dk, so I really enjoyed it a lot. But this meant that we did not go anywhere on Sunday either, it was more like a sleepy hangover day.

Monday we finally did something about it and went to Coconuco, a small village 45 minutes from Popayán. It is known for the natural pools there, so that is where we went, and it was amazing:

This is life !

Great day :D

Tuesday is my weekly day off from school, so we went to Silvia since Tuesday is marked day there. It was raining a lot in the afternoon, but we enjoyed some sun before the big shower started. Silvia is a place with lots of indeginous people, Guambianos they are called, so we saw a lot of them there since they come by for the marked day to sell their stuff:

Tomorrow it is back to school, but in 1½ weeks I have easter holiday, so I am looking forward to that :D

Everyday life in Popayán

What is going on in Popayán?
Well, we have been without internet for a while, which in some ways was a bit stressful, but at the same time it was also very nice to not have to check mails and stuff like that all the time. But now we are back on track.

I have been very busy with school, it is a completely different system here and I feel like I have very little free time. I have around 25 hours of class per week (Wednesday is the toughest with 10 hours), and on top of that I have to do my homework as well. Also, here everything you do during the semester counts in the final grade. This means that you have to go to class, participate and there is also partial exams that count. This week I had a presentation and a partial exam, so it hasn't been boring at all.

A couple of weeks ago we went to "el Morro" on a Sunday to enjoy the afternoon and see the sun go down, it was beautiful !

We have been hanging out with some old friends of Gustavo's, Manuel and Maria Fernanda. She is an excellent cook, so we have really been enjoying great food and great company:

Things in Colombia are not always very logical to a dane, so I have tried to take some pictures that illustrate these weird things that happen around here:

We don't have washing machine in the apartment, but they have a service here where one can call and rent a washing machine for 4 hours. It is cheap (18 kr.) and very efficient. After the 4 hours they come back to pick up the washing machine.

In best colombian manner the water from the washing machine goes into the shower, in a very homemade way. Everything around here is fixed with steel wire.

There was no place to hang our clothes, so Gustavo put up some steelwire to fix that small problem. I should say that the wire is that high uo that one has to climb the windows to get up there.

Electricity here is not always very authorized. I thought I knew more or less how those things work, but comming here and fixing wires with tape is new to me.

That was all for now, hope you are all doing good whereever you are at.
