My parents visiting me here in Popayán

Okay, last Sunday my parents and my sister came to visit me and Diana here in Popayán for 4 days. We went to the airport to pick them up, and I was feeling really nervous and excited about the whole thing. I don't know exactly why, but I think it was a mix of happiness because I was gonna see them again after 3½ months, but also nervous for some reason.
We waited in the airport and a plane landed, and we got all excited. But when everyone had left the plane we still hadn't seen them (it was quite easy to see if they were on, since there is not a lot of "monos"/white people here) So we called Marcela who they had been visiting in Bogotá and it turned out they were on the plane arriving 1½ hour later. So much for great planning. Anyways, we hung out in the airport and waited for the next plane, and they were on that one. YES.
My mom and sister cried when they came out and hugged us, it was really crazy to see them again. Alberte is actually taller than me now, what just happened there?
We went back to the house and had something to eat, and got to know eachother a little better. There was just one problem, my parents don't really speak spanish (my dad thinks that he does, and tries which i think is really cool, but really it is a mix of italian, english, danish and spanish, it can be quite funny) and Diana's parents don't speak any enlish, so Diana and I were supposed to translate all the time. It is quite tiring in the long run.
Later that night we went for a walk downtown with a local guide who told us everything about the city center.
Monday we went to Cocunuco which is a place in the hights where we were in hot swimmingpools all day. It was awesome to just lay there and be really low key all day. They had two pools, one with a little smelly green water, but it was really nice because it was really hot. The other was a little more cold, but it had small fish that ate all yor dead skind. It felt really weird, somehow tickeling, but also nice. Even thought it had been cloudy all day we were all very sunburned when we came back. Damnit.
Tuesday we went to Silvia which is a place with a lot of people in traditional clothes, it was a nice expirience. And later we also went to some artesania and had a great time. Miguel and Natalia who were also in Denmark when Diana was living with us joined us and went out to eat with us at night. It was really awesome to be together everyone, but also a little weird since my parents only had one day left with us. Before we went home we saw the religious prcecion that this town is famous for in Semana Santa. To me it was a little to dark and sad, but everyone here really like it.
The last day here with my family we walked around different markeds in Popayán and looked at the city. We had a great lunch with the whole family in the house. Really nice.
Thursday morning we went to the airport really early, and waited to send off my parents to Cartagena, but because of the rain the plane couldn't land here, and they were several hours late. But they catched a plane in the end, and we went home. Somehow empty without a lot of danish people around.
On Friday my throught really started to hurt, and I spent all Saturday sleeping and feeling really sick. Now I'm a little better, and I really hope tomorroow will be even better.

The question about accents

- "You speak like a person from Spain"
- "Have you spent a lot of time in Argentina? Because you have an argentinian accent"
- "You speak like the mexicans"
- "Oh My God you speak with a really strong peruvian accent"

These are just some of the things people around here have told me about my accent when I speak spanish. So to make a list of them these are the accents who make it:

1. Peruvian
2. Argentinian
3. Colombian
4. Chilenian
5. Mexican
6. Spanish

But I find it really funny, and as long as the danish and the american accent are not mentioned I'm satisfied :D

Cartagena

Wednesday last week Diana and I went to the beautiful city Cartagena in the north of Colombia. It is a lovely city, but it is extremely hot there. Most days we didn't go out other than to the beach before 4-5 o'clock in the afternoon, because it was simply too hot to walk around in the historical part earlier than that. But to me that didn't matter, because it turned out that Cartagena is more beautiful at night than in the daytime, and that way we could also spend more time at the beach.
I really enjoyed the beach there, even though it was not the bounty beach that you can find other places it was really nice. The only pain was all the people there who wants to sell you everything from jewlry to fruit and food. But since I spent a lot of time in the water and reading my book I just ignored them and they went away.
We went to las islas rosarios where they have a really beautiful beach called Playa Blanca. We had a delicious meal there, fish, rice with coconut and fried banana - wow, I love this traditional dish. And of course we took a swim in the very cristal clear water. I wish we had had time to sleep there one night in hammocks, but our flight back to Cali was the day after, so we sadly didn't have time. I think it would be nice to be there and enjoy it without all the tourists just passing by on a tour like the one we were on.

In my first 10 days here in Colombia a lot of people have been staring at me and have been calling me a lot of really weird names. Here is the list:

1. Mona (mono means monkey, but here in Colombia they say it about white people)
2. Monita Linda.
3. Reina (queen)
4. Blanca Neive (snow white)
5. Sabrosa (Delicious)

I find all these names that complete strangers yell after me in the streets really funny.

Anyways, here are some fotos from Cartagena:

Lots of colonial architecure. Beautiful.

Taking a break because of the crazy CALOR .

Writting my diary, a very important part of my trip.

We spent more or less a whole day relaxing in a nice park in the historical part of Cartagena.

There is a lot of dancing groups dressed up and dancing in the plazas in Cartagena. They all dance the same two types of dances, but it is great fun to look at.

Diana was in LOVE with this little police car.

Nice ice cream.. yuuuum

Enjoying my really good book on the beach. I can really recommend it, it is Ayaan Hirsi-Ali's biography.

Watching the sun going down over the sea.

At the beach at Playa Blanca.

In the fantastic water !

Now I'm in Popayán where Diana and her family, more about that in a couple of days.

Arriving in Colombia

A couple of days ago I arrived in Colombia, Cali. And now I'm gonna do something that my beloved former (and hopefully she will be again some day) travelling buddy, Marla, taught me - Making a list:

1. It is really good to see Diana again.
2. Colombia is very different from Peru, it is much more modern and similar to europe.
3. People drive like crazy, and a lot of people drive motorbikes.
4. There is a lot of black people here in compare to everywhere else I have been so far.
5. their money is crap, it has a lot of 0's. So you pay thousands of pesos all the time.
6. In Cartagena it is REALLY hot. I think it is one of the hottest places I've ever been to.
7. They have a lot of really delicious fruits and juice. Especially the lulo iis DELICIOUS!
8. Today we saw two black women fighting eachother at the beach, it was hilarious.

I guess that is all for now :D
